Internal application: an alternative to job-change
Change of job and change of employer – it’s not the same thing. Larger companies in particular have the opportunity to look for a completely new challenge – via the internal application. Typically, an internal application occurs particularly often.
But be careful: changing jobs within the company is not a sure-fire success!
You should approach the internal application with the same enthusiastic approach as you would any other application. Anyone who thinks that they do not have to put in any effort for the internal application because the boss will put in a good word is often very wrong.

Don’t make the mistake that the cover letter is not so important for an internal application. It has to be right. After all, this is how you express your motivation. And those responsible in your company are very interested in why you want to leave your old position and move to a new one.
Why you are applying internally at all and why you believe the best staff to be for the position, work them out in the cover letter. Do not dispassionately rattle off your stations and successes. The best thing is that the recipient gets the impression that you have worked towards this point in time.

Forget about the internal candidature, not your name and email address – as well as your current department and office phone number. It’s no secret that you are already employed by the company. But the recipient may not even know this. So you have to nudge him with your nose.
It is less favorable if you send your cover letter to “Dear Sir or Madam” or “To the HR department”. Either you don’t know the right contact person in your own company. Or you may not be able to find out. Embarrassing!
To do this, state the position you are aiming for, as precise a subject line as possible and sign it by hand.
The application letter consists of four parts. In the introduction, you refer to the internal position you are aiming for. Get down to business as soon as possible and don’t ramble around.
The second part is about you. They explain why you are the ideal candidate for the position and what qualities distinguish you. Part three is about your motivation. Why do you want to switch internally at all? What do you expect from it? In the end, this is the fourth and last part, put an exclamation point again. You write that you are very happy about a personal interview and say goodbye with best regards.
The cover letter fits on one page. You should never need more than two pages.
Internal application CV
You build up the résumé achronologically in your internal application. This is common today. So you start with your current position. This also makes it easier for the recipient to classify you. And pay attention to a neat structure and clarity.
